How to dry Oringo Rootes

Take your Rootes & wash them very cleane &
boyle them, & as soone as they will peele, peele them
very cleane, then take the peath out of them, & take
a pd of Suger, to a pd of the rootes, & make a Sirrop,
& put them into it, & boyle them quickly, but you must
have some of your suger out & beat it & search it
fine; & take them out of the Sirup cleare, & then
plate them as you please, & dust them well with Suger,
& lay them upon papers before the fire, & they will be
dry in 12 or 3 houres;

For one that cannot heare well & are deafe

Take the juice of Betony, & womans milk, & mingle
them together, & dip a piece of black wool in it, & put it
into the eare, this doing 10 or 12 days or more, & if this
will doe take the milk of a Red-cow, & boyle it in
Oatemeal, & the Juice of Betony, & lay it plaister=
ways on the eare:
