Take the fat of a bacon flitch after you have
scraped of the black then make your tongs redhot
in the fire then take the Bacon & melt it betwixt
them in to fair water in a clean dish when you
have melted as much as you please then take it
out of the water & work the water out of it as you work
the buttermilk from your butter then put it in to a
clean white Galley pot & keep it for your use

The way to apply it is to take the fresh blood
from a wound upon a clean rag & dress it with the ointment
once in 24 hours hang it up in a place where nothing
can touch it
