The following receipt given me, by Mrs Witwell, and recommended by Lord [Montall?] - for Curing Him, of the Violent Itching in his Blood, & humour that came out in his face & body -

Scurvy Grass, Water Cresses - [Brooktime?], and [Chider?] juice, equal parts, to each quart of the juice, when mixed, add ten ounces of Seville Orange juice, then filter them. Take half a pint every morning - Lord [Montall?] took as much more between Breakfast & Dinner

for Shortness of Breath Lady Mary Cosley

One ounce of Adam's Calcined Magnesia Alba One once of Water'd Sulphur Made into an Electuary with Syrup of Ginger a tea spoonfull of the electurary to be taken every morning.

To Water the Sulphur you just pour boiling water upon it & stir it about. when settled, pour it off and pour boiling water over it again, and pour the water off, when settled, so do it a third time, then dry it and keep it in a Bottle - I water half a pound of Sulphur at a time, and pour one quart of Boiling water over it each time.

For the worms the American Receipt from Mrs Crotty

To a child of four or five years old give a pap spoonful of Linsed Oil cold drawn. one hour before Breakfast with a little mint watr to prevent sickness. the Tea cup being set on a Bason of warm water will liquidate the oil; and make it mix better with the mint water, it may be give two, three, or four mornings following or you see proper. then rest two mornings and give it again. Something should be given to take the taste out of the mouth but not any thing that is opening. the Oil has sufficient of that quality - when you have given the Oil, eight or nine times it may not be amiss once or twice to

give the Castor Oil cold drawn, which will bring off the Worms of Dead and is quite mild in its operation. The above seldom fails and if more worms come to life, it may safely be repeated at any time.

To dye yr linen Gown Yellow a quarter of an Ounce of Annotto, two penny worth of potash, put them into a Gallon of soft Water, let it Boil for five Minutes, then put your gown into this Boiling Liquor and let remain till the liquor becomes cool enough for you to rub it all over alike, then you may dry and starch your Gown the same as for Common washing.

To dye purple One Two Ounces of Logwood and one two Ounces of Allum, boil it together till it becomes a fine purple in one Gallon of water.

To dye Pink two Ounces of red Lake, two Ounces of Gum Arabick dissolved in three pints of warm water [sha?] the Liquor off and dip in the Gown
