Take Runninge water a pinte, woodbine leaves a handfull, sallendine a greate handfull, sage halfe a handfull,
plantine half a handfull, five leaved grasse, a handfull, roche allam a good quantitye, seeth all thes together
from a pinte to half a pinte, & put in one sponefull of the best Englishe honey & give it one seethinge

A medicen to remedy the tothe ache for euer & ever .2.

Take pellitory half an vnce, two drammes of [stane facies ] a henbane roote, half an vnce of comfrey, thre drammes
of allam, a few woodbine leaves, a pinte of vineger, a pinte of Runninge water, a sponefull of honey. seethe
thes together, till the one half be consumed, & then wash your teeth bludd warme, when it is made could
put it into a glasse, with some parte of euery thinge, & so preserve it at your pleasure; remember to slitt your
henbane roote & take out the pithe, for it is nought, & scrape & washe the other deale cleane for this
medicen, & when you haue payne washe your teethe euery day once, & after your payne is gone, then euery
weeke, & then euery month once, & thus vse it & it will help your teethe, & also preserve them as they
be probatum

A speciall good medicen for the goute 3.

Take vineger, & cowe dounge, & the earth that is hard at the threshold of the doore, or on the common pathe
boyle all thes together & lay them to the soare

for a pricke of a thorne:. 4.

Take the Roots of pollipodium that groweth on the oke, bruse it, & lay it to the place wher the thorne
went in, & it will drawe it out

To drawe out a thorne: proved 5.

Take the gawle of a hare, & blacke soape, & mingle them together, & lay it to the thorne
& it will helpe you & haue it out or els nothinge

for the bourninge of man or woman 6.

The pellitory of the wale, lettis, sorell, Isope, plantayne, succory, heate two tyles, then lay the
herbes one betwene them till they be hott then lay them to the soare

the water for the same 7

Take two handfulls of Isope, Rosemary, sage, planten, a quarte of white wyne, a quarte of water,
a handfull of larrey five sponefulls of honey, half a quarter of an vnce of allam, boyle all thes
together from a fat pottell to a quarte, strayne it & washe the soare with the same, & it
will kill the heate

for proud flesh or dead fleshe.- 8.

Take five or six sponefulls of the strongest ale you can gett, a sponefull of Englishe honey, a
sponefull of fine wheat flower, mingle all thes together, & boyle them on the fier till they
be thicke, coole it & the stricke it on a playster good & thicke; yf you put it in a boxe &
keepe it a quarter of a yeare it wilbe good

for a beast that hath eaten a taynte worme 9.

Take beare foote stampe & strayne it warme with a little chamberley: & poure it into him

for a canker in the mouthe: 10.

Take the Iuce of penyriall, English honey a good quantitye, a good quantitye of Roche allam,
beate it to powder, put them all in together, & make them in sirrope, & washe the soare therwith

A medicen for the clarifiinge of a wounde

ffirst take a sponefull of sallett oyle, & the quantity of a nvtt of turpentine, boyle them together, dipp
linte into it, & stopp the wounde full, when the wounde is clarified, droppe the oyle of eggs into
it with a fether, & fill it vpp with linte

for prowd fleshe or dead flesh in a wounde 12

Take Roche allam & beate it into fine powder, & put some into the wounde, & it will consume the dead
fleshe./

A quicke playster for an ould soare 13

Take two sponefulls of sallett oyle, an vnce of waxe, as muche as a walenutt of Rosen, half as much
turpentine, as much diaculum,twise as much sheepes shuett, the quantitie of a hasell nutt of bolarmonike
as much blacke soope, boyle all thes together & power them in a bason of water, & make it in Roules
& sticke very thinne in playsters

Take virgens waxe, rosen, sheepes shuett, English honey, of euery eche one like quantitie, boyle
all thes together & make them in Rowles as aforesayd, & sticke them in playsters

Take sallett oyle or freshe butter, Rosen, waxe & bolarmonicke of euery one (savinge least of bolarmonicke
a like quantity, boyle all thes together, & make Rowles & playsters as before

to make a Powltesse 2.

Take Rose leaves & seath them in Ale, till they be tender, then putt in Ryes meale so much as may lye vppon the soare as thicke as ons hande, & seathe them together, & lay it to the soare as hott as
you can suffer it

Mrs Clyffes medicen for the palsey 3.

Take the leaves & Rootes of primeroses, & cowslypps cleane pickt, drest & washt, & a little brused of bittany
of eche of thos a good handfull, of sage thre good handfulls cleane pickt & drest, of graynes a sponefull
brused, of Anyseedes asmuch brused, & one nvttmegge made into powder, then make paste with barly
flower knodden with water & honey sodd together, with that mak you a pye a spanne broade, & five fingers
deape, then putt in all your herbes & stuffe, & close them vp, & bake it with cakes or half peny breadd
that it may not be overmuche baked, then haue redye a vessell of thre or fower gallons of Ale
or beare of fower dayes ould, then breake the pye, & put it therin hott, then close it & lett it stande
two nightes, & two dayes, then drawe of it, & drinke therof first & last morninge & eveninge, & at
other tymes, & this vse till all be spent, & vse to drinke no other drinke in the meane while
but only that

A medicen for the stone 4.

Take the pricked holly & dry it, then beate it to powder, & se^arce it throughe a searse, take white
wyne & butter, warme it as hott as you can suffer to drinke it, & putt in the powder of the holly
then take two handfulles of chicke weede & heate it as hott as you can suffer it vppon a
hott tyle stone & lay it to the navell

A medicen for the strenigthning of the mother 5

Take one vnce of pepper, one vnce of fenell seede, one vnce of Elicampane Rootes, & beate them all
severall very fine, & asmuch English honey well clarified as you thinke will serve, boyle them
a little altogether, & put it in a galley pott, & eate therof morninge & eveninge, & faste
two howers after

for the Rysinge of the mother 6.

Take good malmesey, & a fewe cloves heate in a pott, & drinke therof, take redd mint & heate it
betwene two tyles, & when it is hott, power power somme of the malmesey on the mint, as it is
on the tyles, & Rowle it on a Rowle, & lay it alonge on the grease, & keepe the party warme, &
it shall help; by gods grace

for the fallinge downe of the mother 7.

Take a quarte of good ould wyne, a handfull of the toppes of younge brome, putt it in the wyne
boyle it from a quarte to a pinte, put into it some suger, & drinke it off, & it will by the
grace of god helpe the patient

A medicen for a mangy horse or dogge 8

Take of Allame, greene copras, & brimstone; of eche a like quantitie, minge them with a little creame
or freshe greace, then let your horse be very well curried, & therwith anoynt the soare place, &
Rubb it in very well & lett him stand so tyed to the Rackes halfe the daye

A medicen for the Iche 9.

Take a good quantitie of planten & shredd it very fine, & boyle it well in fresh nutter, & strayne
it for your vse

An other for the same 10

Take the greace of a younge hogge, & a quantitie of brimstone & worke them well together with a
knyf vppon a trencher till it be throughly wrought, & then put therto alittle aquavitye, &so mixe
them all together at your pleasure

A medicen for the stone 11.

Take the shells of new layd egges, & washe them cleane in the out side, & beate them in very fine
powder, grate a nvtmegge fine & putt therto, & drinke therof a little in the morninge, & if need be
in the eveninge also, asmuch of the egge as the nvtmegge the drinke & all need be no more then
a sponefull or twayne in Renish or white wyne

A broath for the stone 12.

Take pellytorye of the walle, mayden heare, freshe mallowes, yerrowe, plantine, & parslye of eche
of thos half a handfull, boyle thes in fayer water, with a handfull of Raysons of the sonne,
stoned
