Board Meeting, May 11, 1932

The regular meeting of the Board of the Woman's Club was held on May the 11th at the home of Mrs. Rivers, with the president presiding. A letter from Mrs. McDonald, returning the five dollars the Club had paid her for music, was read. Miss Gregg moved, Mrs. Mizell seconded, that the corresponding secretary be instructed to write her a note of appreciation. On request of Mrs. Kellum, Mrs. Roberts moved, Mrs. Duval seconded, that the Club furnish a scholarship for the short course at the college amounting to $7.50. Carried. Mrs. Boone moved, Miss Gregg seconded, that the telephone be disconnected for the four summer months. Carried. Mrs. Bond reported that $14.35 had been given each of the four schools from teh May Party. Mrs. Benedict was voted an honorary member. Mrs. Boone moved. Mrs. Roberts seconded, that the Club pay the welfare committee $10.00. Carried.

At the close of the meeting Mrs. Rivers served delicious punch and crackers.

Woman's Club Meeting, May 12, 1932

The Woman's Club met in regular session on May the 12th in the Club house with the President, Mrs E. G. Rivers, presiding.

The meeting opened with the salute to the flag led by Mrs Bodni. The Club Creed was read in unison after which "Swanee River" was sung. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Letters of appreciation for the Club's assistance during the State Welfare Conference from Mr Smith and Mr [Unknown] were read.

Treasurer's report was given as follows: House Fund .......... $154.01 Overdrawn Checking ............... $14.65 Conservation ......... $52.40 Beautification ........ $88.23 Welfare ................. $26.43 May Party ............. $56.07 ($14.17 given to the [four] schools) Report accepted.

The principals of the schools sent thanks for the money sent them from the May Party. Mrs Gage reported that the bridge tournament had cleared $104.50. A rising vote of thanks was tendered to the committee in charge of the tournament.

Mrs Deahl, music chairman, introduced Mr. Koscelny, band master, who played several very beautiful violin selections, accompanied on the piano by Miss Childs, student at the College. Mrs Lelend Lewis then presented Misses Madelon Royce and Marion Phillips, student artists at the College, who entertained the Club with dancing accompanied by Miss Kathleen Callahan. Miss Lorelie Tait, also of the college rendered a lovely violin solo accompanied by Miss Helen Van Pelt.
