CORE'S COMMENT CORNER

1-90

JANUARY came in with ice and winter snow flakes for the first time in years. The new year brough also hope for a better life to many european countries,a better future to all of us a few resolutions for some of us. It makes your President wonder about her priorities, not only in regard to material things, but also on matters of spiritual growth, family, social life, hobbies. Last year there was sadness, there was no desire to make resolutions. The only priority was to care for health and financial matters. It is so when there is a death in the family. This year there is a new understanding of what is most important. The answer is clear. To take time for meditation, to smell the flowers, to laugh, to help our fellow man and enjoy baking a loaf of bread. This year might not be a bad idea to make some good resolutions, mostly attainable if we try.

Give up temper - substitute a forgiving spirit. Give up complaining - substitute thanks and appreciation. Give up worry - substitute total trust in God. Give up gossip - substitute kind word and understanding. Give up envy - substitute a compliment. Give up personal self-seeking. Give up fear - it is the destruction of the soul Give up "giving up on myself" if "I slip- Start over again"

With this in mind let us go into a new year with faith, confidence and love for one another.

LUNCHEON - January 11 - 12.15

Food prepared by the corp of volunteers cooks and Department members.

Program; Sounds, images, memories. Come to see what it is. Reservations are needed, as usual.

GRATEFUL THANKS to the Art Department for the luncheon, the holiday program and the Art and Crafts bazaar. Those ladies netted the Club more than eight hundred dollars. What a great endeavor to accomplish.

FEBRUARY LUNCHEON will have as part of the program the "Sewing contest. Get busy ladies, and make yourself a confection that will do you proud when you win the contest. Call Chairman Millie Kaempfer to register your entry.

MADISON will be the host to the Art and Crafts Fair, February 24. Your President and the quilting group hope to enter the unusual historical quilt made this past year. Join in with us, prepare an entry for either the art or crafts and let us see how many blue ribbons we can bring back to Tallahassee. Call Sara Rasmussen to register.

YOUR PRESIDENT and members of the executive Board will be busy preparing the reports to turn in to Federation. BRING YOUR VOLUNTEER HOURS to the luncheon, so we can start assigning hours to different projects.

THE CLUB NOMINATING COMMITTEE is already busy at work trying to find candidates to run for officers of your club.If you are called, don't just say no, think of yourself as volunteers who are eminently qualified to hold a position, and be happy and ready to serve your club. We are what we are only if we work at it. We are who we are only as long as we work at it. We remain who we are only if we give of ourselves. We have a beautiful organization, but without leaders we stand still.

CHRISTMAS MONTH we made two organizations very happy. We presented a check to Ronald McDonald's Executive Director for sixhundred and eleven dollars. We presented a gift certificate for a microwave to the Tree House volunteer coordinator, June Strauss. So, dear ladies during the month of December, your club took care of the usual charities such as Hacienda girls ranch, plus the local charities located in Tallahassee. You should be very proud of yourselves, and you know we are.
