Sir

I have met with Col Logan from Kentuckey who brings me a Letter from my Brother George who writes me very great Profit may now be made by the Purchase of Settlements & Preemption Claims, as many of the Claimants have not Money to clear out their Lands. I have therefore taken up some Money sent to pay for the inclosed Certificates & must beg that you will replace it below as I wish to carry with me all the Money I can. Col Logan will wait on you with this, and will bring whatever commands you have for me, he being an Inhabitant of Kentuckey, and one who can be depended on; but it is ^not proper to let any Person know what warrants you send. _ If I can purchase to advantage

I shall venture to draw on you even if it should exceed our Stock as an immediate Profit may be made by selling again adieu John May

Money to be paid the Treasurer For Wm Mays Cert . . £400 For Geo may's do . . . 160 For do. . . . 160 Mr Beall will please to pay the above Sums immediately, as delays may [?] attended with the Loss of the Land. Col Logan will bring up the warrants the Fees for wch. please also to pay J M

If the Land Office should be removed to Richmd the Attorney Genl is requested to open this Letter & if the Contents can't be otherwise complied with, to send it by Express to Mr. Beall at my Expence wch [?] [?] advance for me till he can get it of Mr Beall J M
