Sir I in a very great Hurry yesterday scribbled over a few Lines to you, but being in Danger of losing the opportunity of sending my Letter, sealed it up & sent it away without inclosing the Assumpsit therein mentioned to the Treasurer. My Intention was, to empower my Brothers Richard, William & George to bid for us at the Sales of British Property in the County of Kentuckey; and if the Treasurer will agree to take our Assumpsit and Discharge the Escheator, I wish to procure from him a few Lines to the Escheator signifying the same, & that what ever my said Brothers shall engage for, will be paid at the Treasury immediately upon [deletion: the] notice thereof being officially given. I am Sir yr very Hum Servt John May 17th Augt 1779 P.S. There will be no Difficulty, I imagine, in obtaining a Certificate from the Treasurer of Moneys being already deposited in his Hands for the above Purpose, & that we are at Liberty to purchase; in wch. case it will be better to deposit Money turn over
