The State of New-Hampshire. Secretary's Office, Concord, Coverd July 7, 1862
I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT at the date of the attestations hereto annexed Daniel P. Rallins was Judge of the Court of Probate for our countyof Strafford, Joniah B. Edgerly was a Justice of the Peace and of the Quorum throughout the State, and Ephraim Tibbetts was a Justice of the Peace for the County of Strafford aforesaid - - - in the said State are duly commissioned and qualified; and that to their acts and attestations, as such, full faith and credit are and ought to be given, in and out of Court.
In Testimony WHEREOF, I have hereunto affixed the seal of the State, the date above written.

State of New Hampshire, Strafford County -
On this first day of July in the year eighteen hundred and sixty two personally appeared before the Court of Probate for the said County, Mrs Saphrona Stowell a resident of New Durham in sd County aged forty one years, who, being first duly sworn according to law, doth, on her oath, make the following declaration, in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the Act of Congress, July 4, 1836:--
That she is the widow of William J. Stowell who was a private in Capt. Leavitts Co. in Col, Putnams 7th Regt, of N. Hampshire Volunteers
She further declares that she was married to the said William J. Stowell by Samuel Downing Jr. a Magistrate on the twenty first day of October in the year eighteen hundred and fifty five in the sd, New Durham and that her maden name was Saphrona Young
That her husband, the aforesaid William J. Stowell died at Tortugas Fa, about March 16,1862 by reason of Small Pox and that she has remained his widow ever since that period, as will more fully appear by proofs hereunto annexed. Wherefore she now applies for a pension, and requests that the certificate therefor may be made payable at Boston, Mass., and sent for her to Horatio Woodman Esq Boston Mass, whom she hereby constitutes her attorney irrevocable to receive the same.
