My dear Dr. Bartsch:

I have been much interested in reading your let-
ter of October 11 and the report concerning your inves-
tigations during the past summer.

I find that, from funds which have been rendered
available for investigations in connection with the Tor-
tugas Laboratory, it may be possible to set aside a sum
of $50. for preliminary study of the hybrid cerions which
you brought back with you from the Newfound Harbor colony
this summer. If you think such assistance will prove
of real benefit at this time in connection with this work,
I shoud be very glad to have the specified amount set
aside for this purpose. Any question of further aid
should I think be considered as an independent proposi-
tion after the preliminary work which you propose.

With best wishes, I am,
Very sincerely yours,
