have depreciated very much - scarcely eatable after enjoying Caroline's - dear Caroline
is very unwell & has anxiety upon Elisha's account is great - he is now [in?] [illegible] Little Rock
under Genl. Steele. Henry is not strong he is growing so fast - I expect he is as tall as Elisha
is & is still growing Mary & [illegible] have [been?] over & [Georgie?] [slept?] with [mother?] the [night?]

remarkable [pretty?] this spring & grown so much - she is as saucey as needs be. I

soon as he is well I shall ride over for a day or two Sister [illegible] & Caroline both say
they will accompany me - but I [called upon?] neither I am so anxious to hear
from [Mary Jane?] I am so glad [Brutus?] is with her her negroes are [creating?] trouble
as the negroes through the whole state are they will hope [to?][ [put?][ women & children
