Remarks on board Saturday the 10th of August 1822 the 24 hours Commences with fresh Gales from the Southward at 11 handed fore and main top gallantsails at ?spurt one reef in the fore main and mizen topsails at ? put another ?freef in the topsails. Handed the jib and spanker with some rain. The watch employed in ships duty. 45 Days out.

Remarks on board Sunday the 11th 1822. These 24 hours Commences with heavy breezes. We killed three goats. AM saw a brig. We bet the reefs out of the topsails and loosed the top gallantsails at 6. Tacked ship and stood to the Westward. The brig tacked and stood to the Westward. 46 Days out. Lat [LATTITUDE] 6=39 Long [LONGITUDE] 18=00 North West

Remarks on board Friday the 16th. These 24 hours Commences with fresh breeze from the southward. Let the reefs out of the topsails and loosed the mizen topgallantsails at 8 oclock. The ?heellashing of jibboom parted and the jibboom riged in. All hands turned to and soon got it to its place. AM the watch ?imployed [EMPLOYED] in turning in the maintopmast backstays and knoting yarns and macking spunyarns 51 Days out. 38 26 12

Remarks on board Sunday the 18th. These 24 hours Commences with moderate breeze from South and eastward clear and pleasant. Saw a large shark lattitude is 7 miles north of the Equinoctial line. Course SW by S. We killed the goat and made a sea pie. 53 Days out

Remarks on board Monday the 19th. These 24 hours Commences with fresh breeze from S and E. Handed fore and mizen topgallant sails at 6 AM. The turkey flew over board we have the maintopsails. A ?back and lowered a boat got her Course W by S. 54 Days out

Remarks on board Tuesday the 20th August these 24 hours Commences with fresh breeze from S and E. At 4 handed the mizen top and one ref in the fore main gallantsail and mizen topsail. At 10 handed fore and main topgallantsails. At 3 loosed the main topgallantsail and let the reefs out of the topsails. The watch employed in ships Duty. 55 Days out. ?? Remarks on board Wednes the 21st. These 24 hours Commeses with fresh breeze from the South East. We Discovered a rock in the

Lattitude 3=48 South Longitude 25=17. We run close alongside of it so that we could jump on it before we saw it. This rock don't come above the surface of the water. A.M. the watch employed in fitting the cutting gear and knotting yarns. Course SSW 56 Days out

Remarks on board Thursday the 22d. These 24 hours Commences with fresh breeze from S.E. The watch employed in ships Duty. Course SSW. 57 Days out.

58 Days out Remarks on board Friday the 23d. These 24 hours Commences with fresh breeze from SE. Took in the fore main and mizen top gallantsail reeft the fore main and mizen topsail. AM saw several whales suppose to sperm. Wore ship but they ?wert [weren't] so far to the windward. We did not go after them. ?Wore ship and stood own course again ??

Remarks on board Sunday the 25th. Thes 24 hours Commences with pleasant breeze from South East. We killed a pig for dinner. Course SSW. All hands well. 60 Days out

Remarks on board Monday the 26th of August. These 24 hours Commences with pleasant weather. All hands employed in setting up the rigging and painting the two quarter boats. Saw several spouts they proved to be hump back whales. Course s by e. 61 Days out

Remarks on board Tuesday the 27th of August. These 24 hours Commences with very pleasant weather. This morning we turned over the waist boat to paint and broke out the fore ?hold and got up some water. The main aloft seeing out a spout and they proved to be a school of sperm whale. The captain and ?maits boat lowered a way and went after them. [ILLUSTRATION] in the margin We did not lower our boat not till the other boats had been of some time. We had not been off long before Mr. Jones struck one. The Captain rowed up to him and struck. They very soon ?sot it to spouting very thick blood and the Captain then cut off his line. About that time we got there and then the Captain and we put chase to the others for two or three miles but we gave up the chase and went back to Mr. Jones and helped him tow his whale ?to the ship
