Comrade Franklin Powers Harlow

Who was born the eighth day of December A.D. 1827 in
Springfield, County of Windsor, State of Vermont

Entered the service June 15, 1861 at Taunton Mass. as Captain of Company K. 7th Regt.,
Massachusetts Infantry Volunteers, Promoted to be Major of the same Regt. August 1, 1861, promoted
to be Lieut. Colonel of the same Regiment October 25, 1862 and was mustered out as Lieut -Colonel
at Taunton Mass. June 27, 1864, by reason of the expiration of term of service. He was transferred to
the 37th Regiment Massachusetts Infantry of Volunteers, May 15, 1864.
Length of service. 3 years - 12 days
He was never confined in any hospital. He was in the following engagements: Yorktown,
Williamsburg, May 5, 1862. Bottoms Bridge, Fair Oaks May 31, June 1, 1862. Picket fight June 27 & 28 1862 at Fair Oaks
Malvern Hill
July 2, 1862 - Antietam, Sept. 17, 1862. Williamsport, Sept. 19, 1862. Fredericksburg, Dec. 13, 1862
May 3, 1863, Gettysburg, July 3 & 4 1863 Rappahannock Station, Nov. 7, 1863 - Wilderness. May 5, 1864 Spott-sylvania
Spottsylvania May 13, 1864 - Cold Harbor, June 3, 1864.

He deems the second battle of Fredericksburg May 3, 1863, at which he was wounded and the battle
of Gettysburg, July 3, 1863 the most important events in his service.

Among his most intimate comrades in the service he mentions Generals Charles Devens, David A
Russell and Oliver Edwards.
