1945 28 Days FEBRUARY

22 Th Quite a [] have current events lesson. Did history notes in free lessons. Had a long letter from Deny's. Disected dog fish all the afternoon. Joining Girls Brigade in evening. Gordon Bill Leslie, Geo. Phang and Joan Hart came to bible class.

23 Fri Rained nearly all day. Bill spent most of his day off with us. Only had two lessons, rest was free. Sat with Form II. Ist lesson in afternoon read to them. Had dancing instead of games. Read in evening and went for a walk with Bill. Betty came in later.

24 Sat--St. Matthias Rather cold day. Helped Mummy all the morning. Cleaned bathroom and went to Sutton. Had a bath in afternoon and tried to do some homework. Penny Rankin came to tea. Played some games in evening. Bill came in.

February 2nd Month 1945

25 Sun-2nd in Lent Cold windy day. Went to S. School in morning and took Primary with help of Janet & Padre. Mummy in bed all day with bad throat. Wrote letters in afternoon and evening to Deny's and Peggy. Geo Phang went to Chapel with Daddy & Janet Bill came in

*26 Mon Very windy day. Stayed at Home to look after Mummy. Was doing housework nearly all day. Did a little washing. Bill kept popping in at various times. Ted & Gordon also came in. Batty came in in the evening. Read Rebecca

27 Tues-O Full Moon 12.7 a.m. Very windy day. Mummy in bed until teatime. Did all the washing on my own except for a little help from Bill, who came in several times. got changed at 4 o'clock. Read Rebecca in evening.

28 Wed Lovely day. Did all the ironing in the morning. Bill came in for a little while. Finished work at about four o'clock. Took Kim for a long walk. Read Rebecca. Went to bed early

1945 31 Days March

1 Th-St. David's Day Windy day Went to school. Had lessons before break as usual. Then all VIth forms went by train to Cambridge with Miss Saunders to see St. Joan by G.B Shaw. Enjoyed it very much came home on 8.10 pm bus.

2 Fri Mummy still in bed so stayed at home to look after her. Quite a nice day. Cleaned the bedrooms and the lounge in the morning. Bill came in and had a bath and went with Daddy to see Bruce in afternoon. Did cooking in afternoon and read in evening. Washed my hair & Gordon cut it.

3 Sat Bill's day off. Quite a nice day but windy Mummy stayed in bed until dinner. I was very busy all the morning cooking the dinner and doing veges. Had a bath in afternoon. Gordon came in to write letters. Went for a Memo walk with Kim and read Rebecca in evening.

March 3rd Month 1945

4 Sun-3rd in Lent Wet windy day Bill came in before breakfast and lit fire and got tea Gordon & Eric popped in too. Went to S. School in morning and taught Primary. Went again in afternoon. Went to Chapel in evening. The RAF padre preached Betty & Geo Phang came with us.

5 Mon Went to school. Carried on with disection of dog fish in Biology. Had to copy up notes in free lesson. Started thonging Mummy's purse in art. Copied notes for homework. Gordon came in for a little while.

6 Tues Lovely day but quite cold. Had two biology lessons in morning as well as French and English came home in afternoon and history essay. Betty & Penny came to tea. Bill & Gordon popped in in evening Woo came in evening to spend HS with us.

7 Wed- Moon's last quarter 4.30 a.m. Quite nice day. Except for art only had two history lessons. Went to see Mrs Hump in d..hour. Hump is posted. Went to pictures with Bill & two of his friends to see Pennies from Heaven

9 Fri Gorgeous day. Had two history lessons in which I didn't do much. Helped Betty to clean the windows in the library in free lesson. Played hockey in afternoon. Bruce came out of hospital for afternoon and came to see. Went to Girl's Bridgade in evening. Gordon came in.

10 Sat Quite nice day. Helped Mummy in the morning. Cleaned the bathroom and did errands in Sutton. Had bath after dinner and then cycled in to Ely and went with the other VIth form girls to see Journeys End acted by Kings School boys. It was very good. Went to tea with Betty. Did express crossword in evening. Betty and Gordon came in.
