a great while. Yatsky (pronounced yats key) has got a new pair of Skies

Feb. 10, 1917. Zero Weather. Sunday – Gee, I am going to pump the organ every sunday now & I bet I will have some fun just waite till I get my putty shooter.

Feb. 12, 1917. Gosh it worked great I changed salt for sugar & pa tasted of the tea & he said, Suffering cats whats the matter with this tea. I [parety?] near split laughing Ma told me to dump the salt out & wash the sugar bowl & fill it with sugar. it wasn’t so funny then.

It was below zero all day. In the morning it was 8 below at noon 1 below & tonight it is 8 below

Feb. 13, 1917 Warmer – Nothing particular today. I dont feel very well tonight I have got a bellyache.

Feb. 14, 1917 Warmer – Its a good thing because the cupid of love might freeze in his customary attire. Today is valentines because day. I was awful sick last night & I dident go to school today.

Gee, President Wilson dont know much about [handling?] foreign

powers. Germanys Blocade is causing shortage of coal.

If T.R. was president there wouldent be any war yet but and neither would there be any submarine blocade If T.R. Was President there would probably be universal military training & there would be no war with mexico & there would be no shortage of coal or of wheat or anything I stand by T.R.

Feb. 1[5?], 1917 Warm. 22 above. I got my hair cut today.

Feb. 16, 1917. Bright & Faire. I went down to peanuts tonight & Yatskey & Punkin said they would come down but they never showed up. Peanut & me made tunnels in the hay & told stories

Punkin said that he bought some 6 'skies but he never had any. I forgot to wright in my diary yesterday.

Feb. 17, 1917. Warmer – Peachy Packing - I pumped the organ up to church today for quire rehersal.

Feb. 17, 1917. Talk about your fun today in church tonight when I was pumping the organ Edison Latherm came up & we raised the duce he made noises by hitting the organ & whispering

& I had this toadstabber or knife & when Duce Crocker would stick his hand out to hit the wall so we would keep quiet I would jab him in the hand & he would draw it back pretty quick. Once I gave him a jab in the neck through I stuck my hand through the curtain. He is in the choire (quire). He gave a jump & stretched his neck about a foot & then he laughed to himself

I wrote a picture on the blackboard of Dock Washburn Singing & I put a lot of emtisusim about him on the picture

Today I was looking around for a piece of chalk. I found my putty shooter. The hole up to church which I was going to shoot my putty shooter through is to hard to get at & I am boring a hole lower. Edison came up & I had 1 lb. of putty which we softened up with our hands & then after I had gone to bed I opened the window & shot them out. I wont tell donald because he would tell Mamma It was colder today

Feb. 19, 1917 I went to the show tonight & this Aft. It rained & just as soon as it [hits?] the walk it froze & everthing is slipery. I fell down 3 times going down to the show & 2 times coming up

Feb. 20, 1917 Cold – Eddie Rudd & I got all the wire from the tree by the corner over to Glen [Fablers?] Barn roof. He bought it from sneze white for 50¢ pretty cheap a lot of it was insulated He & Earl Butler or Bud are going to rig up a telegraph. Bud says he wants 50-50 on the wire. It isnt fair, because Ed. gets the sets puts up old wire & bugs the new wine. Bud's wheels are going around wrong.

Feb. 21, 1917 Cold. Nothing Particular today except that I had some fun up to school in back of old man clarks place It was just one glass of ice

Feb. 22, 1917. [Fair?] – I am going to [machias?] tomorrow morning on the 8.15. My Sister and her husband live over there. Her husband’s name is Mr. Roth. He is proff of the school over there.

Feb. 24, 1917. Warm this morning & cold this Aft. Machias is pretty much of a 1 horse town. 3 grades in 1 room at a time & up here to Perry there are 3 rooms to 1 grade. You see there is some diff. Sat. Aft. not more than 12 rigs passed through main st. in Machias. Fri. night Machias Town team Played Bliss Town team. Bliss beat 31 to 21. Bliss had the heaviest man though

Gosh I ate 3 eggs this morning. 2 fried & I fried them myself & 1 hard boiled came home & eight I mean ate some beans for supper. I had a great time.

Feb. 25, 2917. Bright & fair. today we had boiled eggs & they wern’t boiled quite enough & papa says I’ll see if they are boiled enough & he hit it with his knife to cut it & all the yellow stuff came all over his coat. I'm learning a new language today it is called [tuline?]

Feb. 26, 1917. Awful warm – had a thunder shower today. All the windows in the house rattled. I am taking the youths companion now.

Feb. 27, 1917. I’ll lay the punkin cold tomorow By gosh. I have had enough of it, This morn we was coming home by the crick & he tripped me up in a mud puddle & I only kicked him & threw him in some soft snow. Then he threw burdocs at me. & I only threw them back. tonight I was in the house & somebody knocked & I went & punkin was there & he says Say Ed & hes says I want to show you something & I went out in the road with him &
