13th A good day. Jim & Ben plowed all day. To night Ben carried Richard Wooding and Miss Smith home. Mrs Owen brought them here. I got dinner. Betty Haley washed here to day. I put the beans in sackes to day. Mabel fell of the step and hurt her self. I went to Marvins. Carrie is so hurt that she let Roy go to school.

23rd A good day. Ben and Jim finished sowing grain to day. Reese and Henry and I went to Worshams pond. I caught one nice fish. Dr Owen come this evening and examined Josie and says she must go to a hospidle. Ben & Josie and the baby went to Jim Powers to night. They want Mrs Car to come with them home to help take care of Mabel. I dread the time that we will have.

24th A good day. Ben & Josie went to Charlottsvill to day. Josie went to the hospidle [?]. Mrs Car is here. Jim staid at home all day. He has the baby to night trying to get her to sleep. Lee & Grace, Ben East & Elsie and the children and Kate and Pearl and Carrie and family all come today. I am a fraid that the baby will cry most of the night. I do hope that Josie may come so she can stay.

25th A good day. Jim tied tobacco most of the day. Ben got home tonight from the hospittle. Josie is very bad off at the hospittle. Oh I am so sorry for her. I do hope she may get well. We are doing the best we can. The baby cried a lot of of the time last night. I am so troubled I can [not] write as I ought.

26th A good day. Jim and Ben tyed tobacco most of the day. The baby has bin good for her [?]. Carrie come this morning and dressed the baby and Franklin. Ella [?] come this evening. I dont [know] woh is the most troubled Ella or Carrie. Carrie come this evening most running. She had heard that Josie had bin opporated on and was doing well. She was so glad. I hope she may get well and come home.

27th A rainy day most of the time. Jim tyed tobacco all day. Ben went to Charlottsvill to see Josie. I want to hear so bad but I am afraid to hear. The baby has done as well as we could expect. Betty Hayley washed here today. Did not hang out the clothes. Carrie come a few minutes this evening. We are makeing out as well as I expected.

28th A good day. The boys tyed tobacco all day. We have not heard from Josie to day. Carrie come and dressed the baby. Mollie & Dena come. I was glad that they come. I am so sorry that Denia is so mad with all of her folks. I would do anything in reason to reconcile her but she will not be reasonable.

30 A good day. A killing frost this morning. Jim & Ben tied tobacco all the morning. This evening Ben went with Mrs Car home. Got back at sundown. Carrie had a card from Josie this evening. Carrie washed and dressed Mabel & Franklin this evening. I don't know anything to write to night.

A good day. Jim and Ben tied tobacco all the morning. This evening Ben carried me & Franklin to White Falls. I caugh several fish. I was so glad to go. Kate come while I was gone. I was sorry not to see her. Carrie was here when I come home. She commenced to dress the fish. Mrs Car helped her. I was glad for them to helpe me so much. Carrie come and dressed the baby this morning. Marvin solde his cow today.

A beautiful day. Jim & Ben stripped and moved tobacco all day. Today was Ednas birth day. She talked about it a great many times. Mrs Car gave her some money. Aunt Carrie gave her a nice piece of rbbon and a cake. I killed a chicken and made pies. Ben did not hear from Josie to day. He is troubled about not hearing. The baby has bin better to day than usual. Carrie come this evening and bathed the baby. I am so glad that she will attend to her.

A good day. The boys stripped tobacco all day and tieing yet 8 tonight. Ben heard from Josie today. She is getting on very well. Carried bathed the baby this morning. She brought me some meat and scrapple. Marvin went to Gretna & Altavista today. Carrie went to Altavista. I am willing to work all that I am able but the staying so close and studieng how to get every thing done is killing me but I cant help myself.

A good day. Jim staid at home all day. Lizzie came to see us today. Carrie come and bathe the baby. She cried all she could. I am so glad she done it for me as the baby hates bathing so bad. Ben went to the hospittle. Found Josie as well as he could expect. I do hope she may get well soon. Franklin went to Mr Owens to day. We had a big hunt for him. Carrie made the bread for supper. Lizzie set the table.

Ben's birth day A good day. Ben carried Mrs Car and Edna & Mabel to Jim Powers this morning. He eat dinner there. Jim & Ben loaded the waggon this evening. They intend going to Gretna in the morning. I sowed a little on Effies quilt tonight. I am anxious to finish it. A bout all of us have colds. It is lonesome here tonight. We miss the baby so much. Hope she wont get sick.

A good day. Jim and Ben went to Gretna with tobacco. John Hutcherson loaded for Owen. Franklin and I staid here most of the day. We went to Marvins this evening. Jim went to Chatham from Gretna. Heard this evening that Beaula B will be married tomorrow at Lynch Burg. I wish I could know how Mabel is doing tonight.

A good day. Jim and Ben stripped tobacco. John Hutcherson loaded his truck with Maravins and Owens tobacco. We all have enjoyed haveing Josie at home today. Mrs Hutcherson come to see Josie this evening. We was glad to see her. Mr Jewells house burned up this morning. It is a bad thing to have a loss like that. Mrs Car has little Mabel with her tonight up stairs.

A very good day. Jim and Ben stripped tobacco to day. Bettie Haley washed here to day. Miss Willie Wooding and Denia Blair and Mollie Reynols come to see Josie this evening. I stewed and baked pumpkins for dinner. I killed two chickens this evening for in the morning. Henry went to school. He is complaining of the tooth ache. Mrs Car and Mabel has gone up stairs. Josie come down stairs to dinner today. We were so glad that she could come.

A cloudy day. Ben & Jim sawed wood this morning then Ben carried Mrs Car home. Come back and carried me to Mount Airy then they carried the disk home to Reynols then put the engine under shelter. Jim cleaned the hog pens and put down the seat box and made him a box to put his meat in when they kill hogs. Josie has bin like Josie of olde today. I am uneasy, so afraid she will do something that will hurt her. She has the baby tonight. Marvin and family went to church this evening. Ben bought Henry a pair of shoes to day. [?] rubber boots.

A cloudy most of the day. Ben went to the mill this morning. Carried all the wheat that he had boght some brand paid 2.75 per bushal. Josie made the baby a dress. I washed the baby, five aprons, and ironed them. I have bin busy all day and nothing to show for what I have done. Ben has gone to the school house to a farmers meeting. He went with Marvin.

A beautiful day. Ben, Josie, Franklin & Mabel went to Mr Jim Power. Mrs Car went with them. She staid down there. Mr Power was hunting. They did not see him. Betty Haley & Shooler washed here today. I washed up the kitchen. Henry & Edna helped me some. Edna and I went to Carries a few minutes this evening. Carrie was sewing on my dress. I think she will finish it to night. Martha Miller went home this evening. Ben has gone to the lodge.

A good day. Ben & Jim worked on the spring. Helped it very much. I cooked all the morning. Boiled three sqirrels and back bone, hogs face and liver. Made scrapple, baked a tung [?] Josie and Ben started to Danville. I hope that they made the trip ok. They got to Gretna allright. I talked with Grace this evening. I am always glad when she answers the phone. The baby has done very well so far. Hope she will let me sleep some to night. Henry went to school. Jim helped load the waggon this evening for Owens.

A beautiful day. Jim cut in the woods. Ben & Josie was in Danville. Come home about dark. I had supper a bout ready. Had sqirrel hash and sausage for supper. The baby done very well last night. Molly and [?] come a while last night. Mr Owens carried a load of tobacco to Gretna to day. He went on the waggon. Could not get any one to go on a truck. Edna has just broke a chamber vessel all to peices.

A very good day. Ben & Jim shucked corn and hauled feed all day. I got dinner & ironed a little and churned. Fixed up the butter. Josie went to Carries. They made Franklin a suit I think is beautiful for them to make. Ben carried Josie and went after her. Henry went to school. He got his wheel a gain. Mr Field did not teach to day. The patrons met to night to decide a bout his teaching after xmas. Beatris Owen was here a while this evening. The baby done fine for her while Josie was gone.

A good day. Ben & Jim shucked corn. This morning Ben & Josie went to Mount Airy. They got home at twelve. Jim & Ben and Marvin & William cut feed all the evening for Ben & Marvin. I ironed some & got dinner. Late in the day I went to Marvins. Carrie was baking her fruit cake. It looked good. Henry went to school. Edna has a very bad colde. The baby cried most of the evening. I spilt my ink.

A good day. Ben & Jim helped Marvin saw wood. They got done by twelve. Jim went to Chatham. Marvin carried him to Gretna. Ben sawed wood at Johnson Reynols. They got done by night. Josie baked several cakes. They looked good. I made two aprons. Henry brought in some wood. The children has bin wild to day. They feel Xmas. Josie and Mabel has bad colds and Edna, Josie & the children shelled some pea nuts ready for roasting.

A good day. Ben & Henry hunted most of the day. I commenced to wash and Bettie Haley come and finished for me this morning. Annie Doss come to get a suit case. I let her have mine. Tonight B carried all the family to Reynols. Julia and her baby, Jim [?] and family, Clifton and family was there. I was glad to see them all. Josies kids done fine for a wonder. 11 oclock

A cloudy colde day. Jim & Ben shucked some corn and fed the cows the stalks. We got dinner at twelve oclock today. The children went to school was very late comeing home. Mabel stuck a stick in Franklins eye. I am afraid it is hurt bad. Hope it may be a bout well in the morning. Josie and I have sewed a little today. I wrote Lizzie Benett this morning. I am uneasy a bout Lonnie. I had a note from Carrie today. I am glad that they got home ok. I feel like I would like to see all of the children but I may never see them all a gain. No one knows what will be.

A good day. Jim stayed here and worked on a plant bed & shucked some corn. Josie got dinner and kept Mabel. Ben and I went to see Lonnie Bennett. He is very sick yet but better than he was a while back. I hope he may get well a gain. Ben and I come by Gretna and went to Marvin Smiths a while. I was glad to see them. Did not see Marvin. He was burning a plant bed. The children went to school. Franklin went today.

A colde day. Ben & Jim burnt and sowed a plant bed. Henry & Edna went to school. Josie mended some stockings. I got dinner. I churned this morning. We heard over the phone that Cordie Blair is no better. We have to stay at home now that the weather is bad that I dont know any thing to write. Little Mabel has bin sick today. I hope she may be well in the morning. Ena let the cows out of the stalls tonight for me.

A clear colde day. Jim & Ben and Henry shucked some corn & gave the stalks to the cows. Then cut wood. Kate Harvey come a while today. I was glad that she came. Josie got dinner. I ironed some. Mabel has been sick alday. I am very sorry for her and hope she may soon be well. Ben has gone to the store tonight for oranges for her. I have not heard from the sick grandchildre today. I hope they may soon be well. Jim cut his finger right bad today.

A rainy day. The boys stripped tobacco. The children went to school. They were late at school. Mabel is better today. I am so glad Josie and I do a little cookin and [Nanes?] Mabel is so cross.

I have not bin anywher or heard any thing new so I have not got anything to write. The weather is bad and soon the roads will be bad so that people can't run a car. Henry & Edna are studying their lessons yet.
