A good day. Jim and Ben commence to cut corn. I went to White Falls. Reese Smith carried me & Henry on the machine. I did not catch many fish. Josie got dinner. Bettie Haley come and ironed for Josie this evening. Carrie Smith come down and got a few aples. Ben & Henry & Reese has gone hunting to night.
A good day. Ben & Jim cut corn in the morning. This evening Jim mowed peas. Ben went with Josie and I to Long Island. Josie bought two doz quart fruit jars this morning. Josie went to Carries for some patterns this evening. I stoped there. Carrie was canning apples. I helped peel some apples. Come home and cut grass for the cows and milked. Edna is at Mr Woodings to night.
A good day. Rain tonight. Jim & Ben cut corn this morning. This evening they raked hay and shocked it. Josie sowed a little. I commenced dinner. Josie finished it. I dug a basket of potatoes and picked a few beans. This evening I went to George Blairs. The girls was busy as could be. Denia was at Ren Worshams. I would of bin glad to see her but I thought it might rain. Jim found 8 little frogs. [?]
Oct first day
A good day. Ben & Jim cut corn all day. Josie and I got dinner. While we were eating dinner Charley Harvey & Lee Brumfield come. Josie and I registered and paid taxes. Josie made Edna a dress. I picked some peas and went to Marvins. To day is Mabels birthday.
Ben and Jim cut corn until dinner this evening. Ben carried Edna and I [to] White Falls to fish. This morning I washed a little. Josie got dinner. There was a lawn party at Strait Stone this evening. Marvin and the little boys went. The cream was very nice. Ben & Henry has gone hunting.
4 day cutting
A good day. Jim and Ben finished cutting corn and shockin it. This evening Ben went to Gretna. I went with him to White Falls. Caught 19 fish. We were at Mount Airy at dark. Got home OK and Ben has gone hunting. Josie got dinner. I picked some peas. Bettie Haley washed here today. Josie went to Marvins this evening. Owen solde tobacco in Boston to day.
A beautiful day. The men cut corn. The children went to school. School commened at Renan to day. Nellie & Edna done the milking. Daisy and I done the cooking. Mabel staid with Mrs Car most of the morning. John Hutchersons children come this evening and got twe kittens. I hope they can rais them. [Ella?] Mayhew come a little while and played with the children. Josie was very sick today. Ben went to Mrs Hendricks and got her some ice. He went quick.
A good day. The men cut corn. The children went to school. I got dinner & churned. Nellie milked and caned some apples & made jellie. Daisy & Queen both (col[oured)] washed. Mrs Dr Owen come to see Josie a while this evening. Josie has bin lead off all day. Fanny Power come back tonight. Miss Janie Gravely come with her. She did not stay but a few minutes. Mabel has bin good all day today. I broke my glasses to day. A Mrs Layne come here begging today.
A good day. Jim & Ben finish cutting corn. Betty ironed all the morning. I got dinner. Mrs Edmons carried me with them to meeting. Henry has gone to meeting tonight. I like to go and meet the old & young that I know. Josie has bin [pent?] all day. Mollie come to see Josie today. Jim has shucked some popcorn. He shucked it at night.
A good day. Marvin Smith cut corn. The children went to school. Carrie fixed to wash. Before she commence Mrs McLaulin come to spend the day. She had her little boy with her. He is a fine little fellow. When she went home Carrie and I walked with her nearly home. It is not far but a steep hill to clime. I am very glad that Carrie has her for a neighbor. She seems to be a fine woman. Carrie had snaps and butter beans and sweet potatoes and cake. I have set a round today and rested. Would like to know what they are doing at home.
A good day. Jim and John Ward cut corn. Ben plowed for wheat. Mr Booker borrowed Prince to plow. Today the children went to school. Kate Harvey come this morning. She brought some butter beans. They were very nice. She went by Mr Bookers on her way home. I and Mabel went with her as far as Mr Bookers. Mrs Booker had bin to Renan. Drove the car her self. Nellie helped get dinner. We cooked butter beans and chicken and potatoes. I washed a little today. Guess Lelia will wash for me tomorrow. Ben is at work on his swing tonight.
A good day. Jim and John cut corn. Ben plowed. Mrs Carr and Mrs Powers and Mrs Hubbard come to see us today. Lawson Power brought them. We killed chickens for dinner. Ben sent for the children. Lawson went for them. I sent to Mr Bookers for sugar and butter. The baby is not so well tonight. Mrs Carr is with us tonight.
