A good day. Rain to night. Ben brought Kate and I to Long Island. We made the trip ok. John was with us as far as Altavista then Oscar Booker was with us as far as Richmond. Mr Louvan [?] brought us to Wills. They had a nice supper. Found them all well.

A very rainy morning. We are in Washington. Willie went to Alexes [?] this morning. He come back and we walked to the monument. Went up in the elevator. I did not want to go but am glad that I did. We come to Richmond in the night. Had a good trip. Got to Richmond a bout midnight. Effies children was all a sleep. This is wrote on the morning of the 21st.

We are in Richmond and it is raining. We went to capital and looked a round this evening. Went to see the market. There is every thing to eat that you can think of. Miss Irene Dyer come to Richmond to day.

A good day. Kate and I come home from Richmond to day. Willie come with us. We come home on the Virginian. Ben & Edna and Franklin met us at Long Island. Found all well as ususal. The boys is curing tobacco. They had plenty of water mellons. Nellie and Evylin are here. Josie & Nell had caned a lot of tomatoes. 9 oclock

A good day. The men finished filling a bank of tobacco. Josie fired tobacco this morning and picked a basket of beans. I got the dinner. This evening Josie & Carrie and the little children went to Lee Brumfield. Ben carried them and Reese brought them home. Jack Harvey got home yesterday from Richmond. Charles Harvey and Henry Brumfield went a round to gather today. The men folks wont have to sit up tonight. 8 oclock
