Cloudy most of the day, Ben & Mayhew loaded Mayhews truck and started to Danville. Jim & Owen burned a plant bed & sowed it tonight. Jim and Marvin has gone to Strait Stone.

Josie come home this evening. Mrs. Hubbard died yesterday. Lucius Gravely commenced to teach school at Renan this morning. Henry Brumfield went to school. Edna & Franklin and I staid here all day. Gladis Brumfield come with Henry home.

A cloudy day. Ben & Jim put tobacco in the pit this morning. Ben & Owen helped Marvin kill hogs then worked on a plant bed. I went to Marvins and staid with the children while Carrie got dinner and made her sausage.

Marvin got 4 little pigs for him self and one for Wren Worsham. I have wrote a letter to Lottie Craddock to night. I am so sleepy I can't keep my eyes open.

38 Days Past 327 to come

A good day. Ben & Jim and Owen hauled some feed for the cows then stripped tobacco until twelve after dinner. They tramped a plant bed. Ben mended his fire place then we all stripped tobacco. Josie got dinner and ironed. The children Henry and Edna went to school. Franklin come to the barn to tell us dinner was ready. Reese come this morning & brought me some little aprons to work the button holes in. Mr Mayhew come at twelve to get Ben to phone for the doctor for Mrs Mayhew. Tonight Ben and Josie has gone to a dance at Mrs Gravelys. To night a pedlar come and wanted to stay all night. Ben would not let him. I was sorry for him.

A very colde day. Jim & Ben burnt a plant bed to day.

Josie got dinner. I kept the baby.

I ironed some this evening.

S[eu?]la[r?] Hayley come and brought some wood to the porch and carried some up stairs. Want to have some ready for Xmas.

Today is Hazel Smiths birth day. I would of went up there but did have time and do the ironing.

A very windy morning but a good evening. Jim & Nellie and Evylin Brumfield came last night a bout nine oclock. Ben & the girls come home this morning at half passed four We were all at home at dinner Today we had a nice turkey for dinner it was Josies turkey. And mince pie & cakes and custard

This evening Jim hunted with Marvin a while then they set a plant bed on fire.

Ben & Evylin & Thelma & Mary and Charley & Virginia Harvey went to Jim Powers to a dance. Josie did not go on account of the little baby The baby has bin better today than she was yesterday Jim has gone to the store tonight.

A good day. Ben & Jim burned a plant bed. Ben went to see a man about cutting some wood. Josie went with him. Mr Owen finished stripping tobacco. I went to Marvins a little while. Kate Harvey was there. She did not stay long.

William Gilbert moved to Mr Billie Lewis's to day. We will miss William.

Henry & Edna went to school today.

A cloudy day no rain until night. Ben & Jim hauled old rails fa - [?hove?] wood. Josie and I washed then got dinner & churned Josie sewed some this evening. I went to [?marvins?] Carrie had washed. Paul is very much complaining hope he will get well Soon I went to the plant bed and cut salit for dinner. Tomorrows dinner

A cloudy morning but no rain. I am haveing an easy time. My hip hurts me some yet I worked two button holes and hemed two quilts and gathered some peas today. Earl & Lonnie Bennett plowed some but they need rain bad. They watered their plant beds to night.

Alma went visiting this evening. Lizzie attends to the cows and chickens. She has five little turkeys. They are getting on fine.

I certainly do want to know how they are at home. Hope I will hear soon.

A beautiful day. Jim & Ben & Owen burnt plant bed. Josie baked a cake. She got dinner.

I washed some and sewed on my quilt a little. I went to see the Owen baby this evening. He is bad off with an abcess. The Dr was to see him a gain this evening. To night Ben went hunting, Jim would not go. He shaved and has gone to bed. Mrs Mayhew is very sick, the Dr was to see her today. 10 oclock

A nice day. The menfolks worked on plant beds. Josie done a big washing. I staid with Franklin and the baby and got a little dinner. This evening Cordie & Nettie Blair come. I was glad to see them.

Henry and Edna went to school. We heard to night that Tom Peak got his hand cut off this morning. I am so sorry for him & his family. The Owen baby is some better to night. Today is Henry Brumfield's birth day. He was born in the date 1833. 8 oclock

A cloudy day. Jim & Ben worked on a plant bed. Jim mended Kate Harvey's shoes to night. Henry went to Charlie Hutcherson's to night. Carrie and the children was here a few minutes this evening. Josie got dinner. I kept the baby. Henry & Edna went to school. 9 oclock

Henry has got home. Carrie and Reese went with him to Mr. Hutchersons.

A bad day. Hailed a little and snowed some. Tonight it is raining. Jim & Ben got up a plant bed. Ben & Josie went to Renan and bought several things. Josie got dinner. I went to Marvin's a few minutes this evening. Mrs Mayhew is very sick. She gave birth to twins this morning. They are dead. Henry & Edna went to school. Mr. Dick Wooding brought Edna home. 8 30 oclock I am not well tonight.

A good day. The best that we have had this year. The boys finished sawing wood for Marvin this morning then put on the plant bed cloths. Jim Emerson passed here to day. Henry & Edna went to school to day. I got dinner. Josie ironed. This evening we all went to Carries a while. I come by the turnip patch & cut some sallet for dinner to morrow. It looks like rain tonight. I do hope it wont rain.

A cloudy day & rain. The men folks did not do much. Ben worked on his car some. Ben & Jim & Marvin & Owen went to Mount Airy. Charles Harvey come down here and got the iron wedges. Josie sewed some. I got dinner. Josie went to the plant bed and got salit for dinner. I went to Marvins a few minutes. We paid Irvin Lewis what we owed him today. 9 oclock

A bright cool day. Jim got up roots [?] in the new ground. Ben went to the island for guano late this evening. Ben & Owen plowed. Henry went to George Blairs for dahalia roots that Cordie gave me. Floid Reynolds come for milk. Josie got dinner. She put out some clothes that she washed Monday. I went to Marvins as usual. Come home and staid with the children while Josie went to the plant bed for salit. 9 oclock

A clear cool day. Ben & Owen planted corn. Jim plowed in the new ground. Josie got dinner. She went to Marvins a few minutes this evening. I got breakfast this morning and milked the cows and fed the chickens. Worked a little in the garden then went to Kate Harveys and eat dinner then Kate & I went to Mags and staid a while then come home and fed the chickens then went to the plant bed for salit [?] milked.

Rain this morning and a little this evening. Clear tonight. Ben carried Jim to Chatham. Carried caned fruit and lard. Ben get home before dark. Josie ironed some and got dinner. I milked and churned and went to the plant bed for salit. I went to Carries a few minutes this evening. Edna & Franklin went to Mr. Edmonds to play with Franklin Edmond.

A good day. Ben finished planting corn and fixed some land for water mellons seed. Jim draged his new ground. He had one of Marvins horses. Josie done a big washing and sewed this evening. I got dinner and churned this evening. I worked a few gourd plants and pulled dirt in the ice house hole. Went to Larries a few minutes then went to the plant bed for salit.

A good day. We had a little shower. Jim & Ben worked tobacco and Henry Edna went to Johnson Reynolds for a few butter beans. Josie got dinner. I washed a little. Josie and the children went to Marvins a few minutes. I went to the plant beds for salit. Tom Edmons come for some vinegar. 9 oclock Virginia Harvey come this morning for some butter.

Rain this morning but not much. Jim and Ben has got some tobacco sticks [?] Josie and I got dinner. We had our first tomatoes. I cooked some plant bed salit to day. We all enjoyed it very much. Josie has bin complaining all day. Virginia went home from here this evening. Hattie brough some berries this evening. Josie and I caned them. Nellie made some preserves this morning. I fell and hurt my self this morning.

A cloudy day. Jim & Ben worked on their plant beds. Elick Gibbon got in some wood for us today. Josie got dinner. She cooked turnip salit. It certainly was good. The children went to school. I went to Kate Harveys. I spent a pleasant day. Kate was ironing. Virginia was at home most of the time. Dr. Owen & Clack Hubbard went hunting. Johnson & Jim Thomson was hunting. I will be glad when they cant hunt birds any more. 10 oclock at night.

A good day. Ben & Jim worked on their plant bed. They went to Steven Davis for guano. Ben has gone to the lodeg tonight with Norman Booker. Josie has gone up there to stay until bed time. Josie and I washed some today. Henry made the fire and diped some water. He shucked a little corn and gave the cows a few stalks. We have bin reading tonight.

A beautiful day. Jim & Ben stripped tobacco this morning and worked on their plant bed this evening. Josie got dinner. I sewed a little this evening. I went to Johnson Reynols. Found Mollie by her self. Had pleasant evening. She walked with me half way home. Johnson was stripping tobacco. I did not see him. Mr Norman Booker got him a horse on trial. He was plowing this evening. Mr Mayhew gave a party tonight. Ben & Josie went to stay a while. Also Jamie Gravely is giving a party. Several cars has passed.

A good day. Jim stayed here and worked on a plant bed & shucked some corn. Josie got dinner and kept Mabel. Ben and I went to see Lonnie Bennett. He is very sick yet but better than he was a while back. I hope he may get well a gain. Ben and I come by Gretna and went to Marvin Smiths a while. I was glad to see them. Did not see Marvin. He was burning a plant bed. The children went to school. Franklin went today.

A colde day. Ben & Jim burnt and sowed a plant bed. Henry & Edna went to school. Josie mended some stockings. I got dinner. I churned this morning. We heard over the phone that Cordie Blair is no better. We have to stay at home now that the weather is bad that I dont know any thing to write. Little Mabel has bin sick today. I hope she may be well in the morning. Ena let the cows out of the stalls tonight for me.

A good day. Ben & Jim put on the plantbed canvas today. Lee & Oscar come here today to see a bout buying some feed. They eat dinner with us. Miss Willie Wooding come this evening & Ila & Cordie Blair and Nettie Hendricks and her little baby. The baby is a beauty. I think Josie made a bed quilt lineing and put a quilt in the frames today and we quilted more than half of it. Cordie & Isla & Miss Willie all quilted some. Edna has bin sick today. She could not go to school.

A colde cloudy day. Ben worked on the garden. Jim helped Johnson on his plant bed until twelve. He come home to dinner. This evening Ben went to Gretna. Jim and I went with him. Jim went to Chatham. I done some shopping. Ben bought some flour. We got home about night. Henry and Professer Gambol went to the Sulpher Strings. Hugh come here. Henry & Hugh went down the branch fishing. Did not catch any thing. Miss Janie Gravely come to see Josie this evening. We were very glad that she come. I did want to go and see Carrie this evening.

A good day Ben & Jim worked all day. Henry did not go to school the first day he has missed this [seccion?session]. The baby has cried the most of the day. She is not well. I got a letter from Carrie today. I am always glad to hear from them. I have bin sick all day but not so [bad] but I could go until about night. I could not get supper. Hope I will soon be better. All has bin sick some but Jim. I do hope he may not get sick. We got the first greens from the plant bed today. I am glad we will have plenty soon.

A good day. The boys [hunted?] cut worms most of the day. Mr Mayhew helped them get off some big rocks. Josie got dinner this evening. She went to the plant bed and cut salit for dinner tomorrow. Tonight she is broke down. Went to bed. Did not eat supper. I have [bin?] up most of the day. I churned this morning and milked two cows this evening.

I wrote two letters this morning one to Willie & one to Carrie. [Henry?][?] worked on Edna a [Do?] to day. The children went to school.

A good day. Ben & Jim worked in the garden some this morning. This evening Jim went home. Ben carried him to [Gaetna?]. Henry & Frank went with him. He bought a nice fish at [Gaetna?]. We had all we could eat at supper & some left. I went to the plant bed this morning for lettice. This evening Johnson brought Mollie & Kate Hubbard and Jack Jr. Jane and [?] Jr. they are two fine little boys.

I was glad that they come. Tonight Josie walked one cow & Fanny [Tower?] milked one & I milked one.
