Monday - Pleasant day thunder in evening

---27-- Warm - Went to Cherry Hill & to Alex. Scott's. Cloud Carter engaged a horse rake

---28-- Worked in shop - Made gate for school house yard and hung it.

29 Went to Elkton in morning sent letter to Wilmington for iron - Called to see mother. Jos W Simpers married

30 Pleasant - Early peach trees beginning to bloom. John Harvey planting corn Thunder at night & rain

May 1st

Ths is a very pleasant day. and begins to look like spring. Worked in shop Martha & Lizzie came up from Elkton. W. harrowed corn ground. Mary Dar(?) and came home.

2 Sunday Rather cool, but pleasant went to see Henry -- New preacher at Union.

3 Pleasant - Took wheat to Walmsley's mill. got seed corn of Todd. commenced crossing out corn ground

4 Fine day - Finished crossing corn ground. Commenced planting Heavy frost at night Morley wagon ran off - John W. Simpers got harrow

May 5th 1852

Cold in morning. Finished corn-planting. Warm - Helped Bo(_)any burn brush. Went to Miss B's at noon to fix bedsteads. Fences took fine. Levis's wagon brought iron from Elkton & brought 300 spokes at $2 1/2 per hundred - Serenade at John Harvey's

---6-- Frost in morning - day very warm -- worked in shop Jona hauling wood & log to mill.

---7-- Warm and beautiful day - made tires for Saml Hannick wagon PEach trees in full bloom May - duke in bloom - Jesse H. Simpers brought carriage for repairs - Mrs Levis here on visit

Saturday May 8th 1852

Wm Campbell planted corn Warm & pleasant -- Hooped Saml Hanna's Wheels - Neigh bors engaged in corn - planting. The ground is quite dry

9th Sunday Warm- Apple trees in bloom --great promise of frost(?) Mother came up from Elkton Mr Taylor preached at New Leeds. William Evans buried -

10 Raining in the morning. very moderately - clears up - Warm and pleasant - At work in shop - Westin Miller hauled stones off clover. New driver with Levis's wagon (John Livingston) Burke planted corn at John Campbells

May 11th 1852

Pleasant weather worked in shop - (__) Pen nington called to see Mr Price

12 Rain - Benj Miller moved home from fishing. Worked at Jim H's Carriage - W Scarbo rough paid me $5, & brought 2 (__) venetian red from Elkton - sent letter to Danl & to Lib W.

---13 -- Cool in morning, but becomes warm - our corn is coming up - pricing up gun for killing crows. Burke finished platning corn at Jno Campbell's - Dogwood in bloom - Leaves are putting out rapidly.
