17 Feb. Worked in shop - Mother came down -
18th Went out collecting -- Saw A. Saxton promised to send a bbl of flour to Iowa Was at Scotts Mill and at Sherris Mill -- promised to saw axle(__) tomorrow. Called at Carters & Ben Griffins also at Gatchels.
---- 19 --- Went in afternoon to survey for J W Miller & Gregg Surveyed for Joseph Miller also -- took supper with him and stayed till bed time -- Bright northern lights -- Very unusual appearance white flashing lights like thin shadows rising from the W.N. & N.E.

Feb 20th 1852
Cold in morning. platted lands which I surveyed yesterday. Mr Morris's carriage came up for Milly.
--- 21 -- Threatens rain in morning Went with Jona to D J's to buy hogs -- Harriet & mother came there. Mrs Wilson taken ill at night
--- 22 Sunday -- Rachel went to Elk with letter to Mr Wilson and Milly and Mary came up. Sun came out this morning and melted the ice and snow and made the roads very muddy.

---24-- Frozen a little in morning- day very pleasant and spring like-- Wm V. Wilson came to see his mother. She continues in the same state as yesterday. I wrote a letter to Harvey & McDaniel Wilmington enclosing $20. 1 $10 note Lancaster to Bank No. 1224 - Aug 13 1845 on back "80410" $5. Very pleasant day. Mrs. Wilson died at 8 PM
--- 26 -- Went to Elkton with J.G. Wilson Air cold and unpleasant. Took dinner at Mr Morris's.
27- Went to mill at Walmsleys with wheat. got 2 bus back. wheat from Jno Harvey. Snow came on after night Aunt Lydia came down in the evening.
---28-- Sleet & rain - stormy day J.G. & Joseph Wilson came down and Lib. I went to Mr Prices at night to see them Wind blew hard at night

Feb 29 -- Sunday
Went in morning to funeral of Mr. H. Wilson. Mr Howell was expected to preach but did not come. Jos. Brown went in the pulpit to preach but Mr Helmbold arriving preached the funeral Ps 17-15. The text had been selected by the dec in his life time - John G. Wilson preached at 3 Oclock P.M. Mal. 3.2 and Joseph Wilson at night to a large congregation. "Blessed are the dead" etc. Mr & Mrs Morris & D.J. came home with us from the funeral for dinner.
