21 Jan. Not quite so cold as yester day -- snowed a little in morning. Jon working at Mr Price's sleigh. Sold new sleigh to Henry Gatchel for $15. paid $5. Danl J. came down at night-(___) of going to Virginia on Monday. Received letter J.G. Wilson ---22-- Cold - Sleighing brisk Pump still frozen. At work at Mr. Price's sleigh -- Joseph Hall brough 2 loads of wood. Louisa unwell. Went to writing School at night. ---23-- Not quite so cold. Got pump loose & clock started Robert M. Walmsley Jr called on his way to California

January 24th 1852 Went to Elkton in sleigh with Wm Thomas -- Superceeded claim vs DF & B Miller for $75 1 year from 28th Nov. Much sleighing. Col Howard returned from Washington - thinks Cass a great humbug- Snow melted some to day - On Tuesday morning the thermometer was 7 degrees below zero. -----25 Sunday ---- Weather more moderate Snow melting but still good sleighing. Milly went to her father's - I took supper with Miss B. Wm Campbell & wife. Rachel & Louisa sick with colds --- 26-- Moderate - Snow melting sleighs still running - Jonathan unwell.

Jan. 27 1852 Not so warm as yesterday. Finished Mr. Price's sleigh and put on coat of priming. Jonathan's father to see him. Sleighs are yet running. Alex Scott brought wagon to have repaired. ---28-- Moderate and cloudy with appearance of storm. Got 2 bu corn of Mr Price Waste for "Weekly Sun" Mr E B Hartshorn here at night ---29-- Pleasant as spring. Funeral of S. McDowell's child Received a letter from James Andrew. Finished Mr. Prices sleigh. ---30-- Went to Cherry Hill & Saxton's saw Robt Evan's and had a talk about Fallon & Mahoney

Jan 30 continued who had gone to Iowa. He said Mahoney's post office was Kanesville Pottawatamie Co Iowa and that Fallon lived 17 miles distant in Mills Co. where had built a saw-mill
----- 31 ---- Wet disagreeable day -- At work in shop. Wm Williams called was about buying some land at Donnely old Tavern. Said he would sell his farm for $1200. Thomas Dougherty was looking at John Harvey's place -- wrote to Lib Wilson
Feb 1 Sunday Stayed at home all day. Franklin Jervis here for dinner -- wrote Longwity also a letter to M. Brown

Monday Feb 2 1852 Ground frozen and appear ance of storm. Clears up and gets cooler -- Settled with Jonathan - due him $19.34 Jos Simpers called for me to survey Autego - Engaged to do it on Wednesday
----- 3rd ---- At work in shop - Jona went to Cherry Hill to see about shop. Received letter from Margaret Jane & Alex Evans.
----- 4 ---- Surveyed "Autego" for Jos W Simpers -- Jesse H. Wm W & John W were there. Andrew Harvey, John W. Holt, Wm Campbell. J.W. Holt said that Jesse R Simpers did a one time cut over on
