A cloudy day. Rain this evening. Jim & Ben planted corn on the branch land this morning. This evening Ben finished ceiling Marvins room then they planted some water mellon seed.

Josie washed this morning. I helped some.

I picked a few straw berries for supper.

Franklin is very sick to night. I do hope he may be better by morning.

A very cool day for May. We begin to need rain.

Ben & Jim & Henry worked tobacco all day. Mr John Baily eat dinner here to day. Ben & Jim & Henry has gone to the school house to night. A patrons meeting.

Josie ironed this morning. This evening she went to Marvins. Nettie Blair & Doris Brumfield and Ada Hutcherson come here this evening. Doris wanted water mellon seed.

We heard to day that Mrs Lucie Peak started to the hospitle at Roanoke.

I am glad that Franklin is a most well a gain.

A good day. Ben & Owen and Jim plowed some to day. Jim helped John Hutcherson thrash wheat this morning and planted him some pink beans this evening after they got up the hay.

Ben worked his water mellons vines late this evening.

Josie ironed & got dinner. I churned and washed a few things this morning. This evening I worked some button holes and mended a few things.

Lucius Gravely come here tonight on his way to the lodge. He had forgot that last Sunday was a fifth Sundy.

A good day. Ben & Jim plowed some this morning. This evening they went to Brutus to a speakin. John L. Hunt done the talkin. There is a meeting of men at Strait Stone. The boys would not go.

Josie got dinner. I helped put up the dishes.

I chopped the grass out of the walk this evening then went to Carries a few minutes.

Ben brought two water mellons home this evening.

Mary Brumfield went to George Blairs this morning. She dressed in some of the girls clothes and went to Strait Stone. She come back here tonight & I am glad to have her here.

A good morning. Rain tonight. Jim and Ben & Henry suckered tobacco all day except what time they worked over the sick horse. We hope he is some better tonight.

Josie and I have bin very busy all day. Josie made preserves & jellie of the damsons that she got from Powers. We made a pie of part of the peaches that she got yesterday and caned the rest of them.

Jack Harvey come over here a while to day. While he was here Miss Alice Wooding and Miss Annie Carter come a few minutes. We cut a fine water mellon while they were here. Julia Fergerson went back to Portsmouth. Julia did not come to see us while she was at home. Marvin and Carrie went to the baptizing this morning.
