Saturday, April 19, 1919
A beautiful day. Ben & Josie & Jim went to Chatham. Ben & Josie got home a bout night. Jim staid up there.
Henry & Edna and I said[sic] at home until twelve. Eat our dinner & then went to Marvins. Marvin carried Reese & Henry and I to White Falls. We caught a fish a piece. They would not bite. Odie and Lottie Kellie and Elsie East was there.
Mrs Johnson come down there where I was a few minutes. There was plenty of frost this mornin.

Sunday, April 20, 1919
Easter Sunday. A good day. We all staid at home until after dinner. We had cake and pimento pepper for dinner that Josie bought at Chatham.
This evening Ben and family went to Jim Powers. I went to George Blairs. Lizzie Bennett was there for dinner.
Ren Worsham and family come this evening. Ren and George and Doratha & Ruth went to Edge Hill preaching.
Marvin Smith & family come to Georges. Marvin brought Lizzie and I home. Mr. Owen had a horse and buggy and went for his sister. She was at Mrs Myers.
10 oclock
Henry made the fire in the cook stove this morning for the first time in his life that I know any thing a bout.
Saturday, May 24, 1919
A cloudy morning and a little rain this evening. We have a plenty of rain.
Jim & Ben worked on their tobacco until dinner this evening. Ben & Jim went to Chatham. Kate Harvey went with them.
Henry Edna & I went with them as far as Jim Thompsons the we walked to White Falls mills [and] fished. We caught a few fish. We walked back as far Mt Airy Ben brought us home. I paid Ben for the trouble that we were.
Josie ironed most of the morning. This evening Josie and Franklin staid here by them selves.
I milked by the light of the lantern.

Sunday, June 1, 1919
A good day & very warm.
Jim staid at home and gathered some cherries and straw berries. Josie and Edna & Franklin did not go to Strait Stone.
Ben & I and Henry went. Beatalis Owen wen on the car with us.
They had a big crowd and a plenty to eat. Nellie & Evylin came down. Sunday got to Straight Stone in time for dinner. They came back by here.
Nellie staid and Evylin and Edna went back to Chatham.

Monday, June 2, 1919
A little shower this evening.
Ben went to Chatham this morning. Carried Henry with him. Nellie went home.
Ben brought Edna home. She was very much pleased with her trip to Chatham.
Josie gathered a bucket of cheries this morning.
This evening Mollie Reynolds came to the currant bushes. I met her. We gathered nearly two gallons of currants.
Jim plowed nearly all day on the patches.
