A good day. Ben went to Chatham with Jim Emerson Lucius Gravley and Chesley Edmons and Faber Jefferson and lots of others had to start to training camp.

John Hutcherson disked Bens wheat land this morning for one dollar per acre.

We that was Paul and Owen and Josie and Henry Brumfield and Luke and Norman Owen all stripped tobacco. To night Ben and Paul has gone to the barn to rebulk some tobacco.

Josie gave me a nice lot of candy a present from Josie and Carrie. Tomorrow is my birthday. I will be 72 years olde.

I thank them both. Mother.

A cloudy day no rain.

Ben Kate and I went by Java and on to Chatham. Kate put in a plea for Chesley Edmons to come home and strip his tobacco.

Josie milked the cows for me this morning. Paul and the Owens stripped tobacco and Josie helped what she could. Ben and I got back a bout dinner time. Eat dinner. Ben went to the saw mill. I tied tobacco got done be fore night. I went to Marvins a little while.

Heard today that Clifton Reynolds is very sick hope he may be better soon.

Had a Letter from Jim today. I am glad that he was well. Hope he may stay well.

A good day.

Ben and Josie and Mrs Carr went to Chatham. I kept Franklin and got dinner.

Josie went up to Marvins and staid with Carries children while Marvin and Carrie went to Strait Stone and tonight Ben and Josie and Janie Gravley has gone to the school house at Strait Stone to a Community League meeting. Miss Angle passed here to day on her way to the Mountain School House.

A good day. John Brumfield was here. Ben did not do much work. He moved the fence so the cows could go to the straw stacks.

Josie got dinner. She had baked chicken and beef steak. I think we all enjoyed the dinner. Mrs Carr has a bad colde.

This evening Ben carried John to Gretna. I went with them. Tenia met John at Gretna. He said that he would go back to Portsmouth tomorrow.

Willie Mayhew carried his family to Chatham to day on his truck. Gasoline gave out and he got some from Ben to get the truck home.

A good day. Ben and Marvin went to Kates and killed her hogs. Josie and I worked on our lard and sausage. Josie ground and made the sausage and dried up some of the lard.

I worked at the wash house and she at the house.

Ben brought some things at Renan to day.

I got a piece of flanel from Chatham by mail to day. Josie sent Effies knitting to day.
