am Light trade at ESE & fine Barque in Co [company] at 9.30 saw the Island of St. Helena Bg [Bearing] NNW Latde [Latitude] obsd [observed 16.38 So Londe [Longitude] Chr [Chronometer] 5.02 W Course N 44 1/2 W 92 miles St. Helena N 44 W 56 miles PM very light wind at ESE & E by N 2 & 3 knots.

February 11th

am Light breeze at SSE & fine at daylight Body of St. Helena NW by W 10 miles at 10.10 Shortened sail & anchored off James [Valley?] in 25 fms [fathoms] water & veered to 55 fms [fathoms]. The ship was put in quarantine on account of having fever on board. Bearings at anchor The church SSW Sugar Loaf Hill E 3/4 S Draft aft 17.6 16.0 Fore at at 4 weighed at 5 made all sail to the NWd [NWestward] Moderate SSE trade & fine.
