A beautiful day. A big frost this morning. Jim and Ben hauled stalks this morning. Ben went with Marvin after a hound They went to Altavista. Josie staid here and ironed and got dinner and supper.

Edna and Franklin went to Mr Mayhews to play with the children. Henry and I went to White Falls. Henry caught 4 fish. I one. We come back by Renan. Stoped at Kate Harveys a little while. Went to the store. Hubbard was not there. Mollie Reynols and Christenia was there. Mollie said she intended to go to Portsmoth tonight to see Julia. Josie dressed a spring chicken to send to Julia. Love to all the children & grand children.

A good day. A big frost this morning. Ben plowed. Jim split wood. Josie made me a dress today. I went to Kate Harveys and to Renan store. Come by Reynols to see them. Julia Fergerson looks bad. Mildred is a fine childe. They had a play at the school house this evening and tonight. The children was there. this evening. Ben & Josie has gone tonight. Jim and I and the children staid at home.

Today is the last day of this term. Gordon McCormic, Mrs Sallie Blair, Mrs Evylin Hutcherson & Miss Eliz Porter was the teacher.

A rainy morning. Soon cleared up and the wind blowed the rest of the day and it is colde tonight. Guess there will be frost in the morning.

Kate Harvey & Pearl Wiginton come to see us a while this evening. Ben carried them home. He was going to Renan if they had not come. Josie went to Reynols's to see Clifton and Jane. She never will for get them. They were kind to her when she was in the hospital.

Ben & Josie, Henry and Edna went to the school house to night to play or something of the sort.

Come home colde. I staid with Franklin & Mabel.

Needs Review

Monday, January 1, 1923

A good day. We eat three meals to day. Ben commenced to strip tobacco this morning. Henry went hunting & to the store this morning.

Mrs Car did not eat any breakfast this morning.

Josie is very bad off.

The children are at the dining room trying to play the fiddle & banjo.

I have bein very busy to day no one to help me except what Edna does. She brought all the water for tonight and wiped the dishes for me.

Well I have commenced in my new book and hope I may live to finis[h] it.
