Some rain to day not enough to stop work. Ben helped Marvin Smith cover his barn. Mr Owen plowed.

Josie got dinner and colored some eggs for the children and made some bats for her quilt.

Carrie and the children was here a while this evening. The children had a time hunting eggs. I sowed a few seed in the garden to day.

Eleven oclock by the new time.

A good day. Ben went to Renan to try and get a horse to plow a few days. Did not get it. Josie went to Carries this morning and bathed the baby. After dinner Ben and Josie went to Strait Stone.

Children and I went to Carries. I replanted potatoes. Planted some gourd seed yesterday. Owen went to the mill to day.

A good day most of the day. Had a little rain this evening. Ben and Paul still working tobacco. Josie ironed. I got dinner. I planted some cucumber and pumpkin seed.

Josie and Ben went to Strait Stone this evening and got some things. Among them were 4 tin buckets.

Mr Dave Layne and his son [ink smear] Walter and got a cow [smear] and calf.

Edna and Franklin are sick. If anyone wonders why this page is so blotted, I went to sleep.

A good day.

Ben and Paul worked tobacco all day. I washed a little this morning. Josie churned and got dinner. Baked a cake. This evening she washed the dining room floor.

George Worsham come here this evening assessing property. I planted sunflower seed this evening.

Tonight Ben has gone to Marvins to try and mend the freezer. Hope he can get it mended.

Saturday, August 17, 1918

A good day. Ben plowed up the potatoes and Josie picked them up. Ben sowed turnip seed to day. Paul tied some primings. Josie got most of the dinner. I churned went after some tomatoes. After dinner I put up three cans and killed two chickens and cut the cucumbers and put them in brine.

Paul and Thelma went to Dick Woodings to a stew to night. I hope they may have a nice time.

Julia and Henry and Edna are in my room and talk so much that I am in the hall writing.

Chesley Edmons cut a house of tobacco today.
