of what use are they? They are supposed to be good for chickens, but they do not care for them, & English sparrows chiefly feed upon them.
Can any thing be done to prevent large & conspicuous signs from being placed along the road-side? Only those that are fastened to trees are against the law if back of the State Line.
Currants & gooseberries were hurt at some places by the frost, & not much so at others. The first bloom of the grapes was killed very generally, but it was thought a second set of buds would put out + we would still have a crop.
The question as to whether there were as many birds as usual brought forth quite interesting thoughts from many. There had not been as many robins seen as usual, but other varieties quite numerous.
Sarah E. Kirk & Dr. H. J. Nichols were appointed readers for next meeting to be held at Imercauld.

Surely if this be true, our host has been much blesed in the many years of his successful work in those he has planted, + may both host + hostess be given time + strength to make the new Imercauld to which they are going, as attractive and productive as the one they are leaving.
