Upper Canada Midland District County of Hastings

To All Concerned

Whereas William Collier of the Township of Thurlow in the said County and Catharine Bradshaw of the same place, were desirous of intermarrying with each other, and there being no Parson or Minister of the Church of England living within eighteen miles of them or either of them, they have applied to me for that purpose; Now these are to certify, that in pursuance of the powers granted by an Act of the Legislature of this Province passed in the thirty third Year of His Majestys Reign, I James McNabb Esquire, one of His Majestys Justices of the Peace, having caused the previous notice by the Statute required to be given, have this day married the said William Collier and Catharine Bradshaw together and they are become legally contracted to each other in marriage.

We, Robert C Wilkins and Mary Wilkins do so solemnly swear that we did publickly intermarry on the twelfth day of September in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Four and that there is now living issue [four?] of the said Marriage. Mary Ann Wilkins born the twenty second day of August in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and five; Robert John Shuter Wilkins born on the sixteenth day of December in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and seven, Elias David Smith Wilkins, born on the twenty second day of December In the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and nine, Sarah Elizabeth Shuter Wilkins, born on the fifteenth day of December, In the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eleven and Charles Wilkins born on the twenty fifth day of December in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight Hundred and thirteen.

We James Young and Catharine Young, formerly Catharine Wellan, of the Township of Ameliasburgh County of Prince Edward, Midland District and province, of Upper Canada, Do solemnly Swear in the presence of Almighty God, that We did publicly Intermarry with each other the Twenty Second day of March in the Year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and Four, and that there is now living Issue of the said marriage. Reuben Young born on the Nineteenth day of July one thousand Eight Hundred and Five; Fanny Young born the Twenty sixth day of August one thousand Eight hundred and Seven; and Sarah Ann Young, born the Twentieth day of January one thousand eight hundred and ten according to the best of our recolllections and belief of the times of their several births.

Sworn before me this 24th day of Jany in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty as witness my hand and seal

Whereas Alexander Sherriff and Pacience Bowerman both of the Township of Hallowell were Desirous of intermarrying with each other and there being no Parson or Minister of the Church of England living within eighteen miles of them or Either of them, they have applied to me for that purpose. Now these are to Certify that in pursuance of the Powers Granted by an Act of the Legislature of this Province passed in the thirty third Year of the Reign of His late Majesty George the Third I James Cotter one of His Majestys Justices of the Peace for the Midland District having caused the previous notice by the Statute Required to be given, have this Day married the Said Alexander Sherriff and Pacience Bowerman together and they are become Legally Contracted to each other in marriage.

Given under my name at Hallowell on the 9th October 1827 James Cotter J.P.

Whereas Dorland Noxon of Sophiasburgh County of Prince Edward, Midland District, Upper Canada son of James Noxon and Elizabeth his wife and Susan Mary Stevenson of the Township of Hallowell County aforesaid daughter of Timothy Stevenson and Phebe his wife (the former deceased). Having laid their intention of marriage with each other before two monthly meetings of the religious Society of Friends held at West Lake in the county aforesaid, and they having consent of Parents and nothing apearing to obstruct their proposals of marriage was allowed by the meeting.

These are to certify that for the accomplishment of their intentions this twenty second day of first month in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine. They the said Dorland Noxon and Susan Mary Stevenson appeared in a public meeting of said Society held at West Lake and the said Dorland Noxon taking the said Susan Mary Stevenson by the hand did on this solemn occasion declare that he took her to be his wife promising through divine assistance to be unto her a faithful and loving husband until seperated by death or words to that effect and then the said Susan Mary Stevenson did in like manner declare that she took the said Dorland Noxon to be her husband promising through divine assistance to be unto him a faithful and loving wife untill seperated by death or words to that import. And the said Dorland Noxon and Susan M Stevenson she according to the Custom of marriage assuming the name of her husband as a farther confirmation thereof did then and there to these presants sit their hands. And we being present have subscribed our names as witnesses thereof
