Julia Brumfield Diaries

A good day most of the day.

Ben worked on his car some this morning. One of the cows was sick. Marvin and Posie and Lee Brumfield all helped him a bout her. Posie Reynolds eat dinner here for the first time in a long time.

This evening Rena and Audry and Fessy(?) Mayhew and Virginia Harvey and Delma Owen all come all for eggs to set.

I did not have but one setting. Virginia got them.

To night Ben and Marvin has gone to Strait Stone to the lodge.

8 oclock

A good day. Ben and Owen & Paul Bennett plowed corn. Got done a while before night then went to Cedar Forest. Carried some beans & eggs. The men went bathing. Josie and the children went with them to the store. Josie milked and churned and got dinner. Ren Worsham carried Isla & Cordie Blair and I to Mr Jessie Worshams Mill Pond to fish. None of us caught any thing to keep. Cordie and Isla caught a fish a peice but did not get them out of the pond. Denia went to see Lottie Craddock to day. Frank and George went to Danville to night.

10 15 oclock

Ben and two of the children & Josie has gone to the School House to a play.

A good day. Ben and Owen hauled pea hay this morning and plowed this evening. Paul and Josie and I stripped tobacco all day. Little Henry and Beatrice Owen tied this evening. Mr Dews come and got some apples and brough us some corn.

Ben went to Strait Stone and carried 4 chickens and 2 doz eggs. Bough soap and oil.

To night Ben and Paul and Owen are at the barn putting tobacco in the pit.

9 oclock

A cloudy day. Ben has bin complaining all day.

Mr Owen and Marvin and William Gilbert killed two hogs for Ben this evening.

Josie got dinner. I cleaned up the smoke house then I took he fat off the intrils and cleaned the feet of the hogs.

Ben carried Miss Janie home and got Mr Jim Emersons tining tools. He wants to cover Owens house soon.

Henry and Edna went to school to day. Floyd Reynolds come by here this evening and got a few eggs. He was on his bycicle. I feel like I know he broke them.
