I ironed today. Andrew came this afternoon and so did Sis and Jane Johnson. Sis brought me the new dress she made me & 2 hens and 30 little chickens.

SATURDAY, MAY 3, 1941
John Albert Whitfield came early this morning & told us Mrs. Warner Slaton died this morning at 5 o'clock. I was sure shocked for she was at Dad's funeral Tuesday. Jay, Rex & I went to town late this afternoon & I went to Jessie's. Mrs. McGrew was there also. We came by John Marion's about 10 o'clock tonight and I spent the night with Alma. John & Rex went to Mr. Warner Slaton's & set up until about 3:30 Sun morning.
