I have been at home alone today. The men are at Cousin Will Wilson's. I have ironed, mended some clothes and dressed a chicken. Today is Jay's birthday he is 21 years old.

THURSDAY, APRIL 3, 1941
I have been awful blue today. The men have been gone all day. Working at cousin Will Wilson's. I started to go to Alma's this afternoon but turned back as I heard it thunder and thought it would rain before I could get there. It did rain a little but not as much as thought it would. I got a letter from Mother that I couldn't quite understand. Fern came & spent the night with us.
