Rice has been cultivated in the lower counties of Maryland. Agreeably to the census it was produced in 1849 in Virginia, N. S. Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky Missouri. Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas and Mississippi.
