S. angustifolius Vahl. Scirpus spathaceus Mx. Cyperus
spathaceus Linn

Culm simple nearly terete, clothed with
spreading linear flat leaves above, spreading in three
directions, -- Culm 1 to 2 feet high. Flowers
in July.

Edges of ponds and very wet marshes;
Milwaukee to the St Croix river in Wisconsin;
also in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and on the
Ontanagon [Ontonagon] river of Lake Superior (Mr J. E. McMullen);
