Genus III. Dulichium, Richard.

(Dulichium, the name of a Grecian island)

Spikes linear, elongated, compressed, many flowered, sessile
in 2 ranks on solitary peduncles, emerging
from the sheaths of the leaves; perianth of 6 to 9
rigid, [retroversely?] hispid bristles; stamens 3; styles
long, two cleft; achenium compressed, linear-oblong,
beaked with the long persistent style; -- Culms
nearly terete simple, jointed, clothed with leaves
at the summit; leaves short, flat, linear, 3-ranked.
