145 Carex flexilis, Rudge.

Syn. C. blepharophora Gray.

Sterile spike solitary erect, short, club-shaped;
fertile spikes three or four, pendulous, oblong, sometimes with a
few staminate flowers at the base; bracts ciliate scale-like
or bristle-form, very slightly sheathing; perigynia ovoid,
beaked, about the length of the ovate, hairy fringed
scale; leaves fringed with delicate hairs. Culm
12 to 18 inches high. Moist shady places.
