Syn. C. prasina, Wahl.
Sterile spike single, slender pedunculate,
commonly fertile at the summit; fertile spikes
2 or 3, cylindrical, slender, loosely flowered at the
base, on filiform nodding stalks; perigynia ovoid-
triangular, glabrous, thin, longer than the ovate
abruptly awned white scale; bracts leafy,
the lowest exceeding the culm. Culm 18 to 24 inches
high; flowers in May. Wet meadows.
Ohio and Michigan
Extends from Georgia to the Arctic regions.
