Sterile spike one; fertile spikes 3, filiform
loosely 3 flowered, remote, on short stalks; perigynia
ovoid-triquestrous, nerved, small; leaves all
radical, very broad, nerved, pale or whitish green. Culms
slender about a foot high, flowers in May.

Ohio. Eastward to New England.
