Spikes 3 to 5 round-clubform, distant, on
a slender, flexuouse sometimes nodding stem;
perigynia ovate, compressed, beaked, slightly
winged, nerved, rough on the margin; scale
two thirds the length of the perigynium; leaves
much shorter than the slender culm. Culms
about two feet high; flowers in May.
