Logic 82 Erkenntnisslahre

The word Erkenntnisstheorie has no such vagueness.
It is the investigation of the sense in which knowledge is possible.
It os often called the theory of cognition but I do not see why we should not retain Kant's term critic especially as he borrowed it from the English for in our own language this word has been in use since Hobbes and earlier for the science of criticism and was admitted by Johnson into his dictionary.
The peculiar turn of meaning given to it by Kant which makes it the critic of knowledge or as he would have said the critic of the cognitive faculties if quite admissible.
Besides the immense importance of Kant's work upon this problem imposes upon us the duty of accepting his word as long as it is so far from being a bad one.
