On returning to the house we examined some very nice looking
plants which showed they had been well cared for the general
appearence [sic] of this place has been very much improved, and
the wheat looked as well as could be expected this late season.
Whilst waiting for all to get in there was some discus[s]ion
about wheat some thought it very much winter killed but the
general opinion seemed to be that the stand was a good one and
only wanted a few warm days to start it.

1st Question -- How much is a load of Straw worth that was about
as large as a load of hay that would ^weigh about 4o cwt.
ans Ten dollars

2nd Will it pay to sow Clover seed on wheat stubble where I
failed to get a set last year
ans Clover seed is so low he was advised to try it

3rd I have 2 Calves 3 we[e]ks old to raise shall I leave
them on the cows or take them off and feed them
ans Leave them on the cows 2 weeks longer
