manure.

How much of the commercial Fertilizers
may a farmer buy with the hope of a
profitable return on his investment.
With a given amount of money cannot
a farmer more permanently improve his
land by investing the money in cattle
& thus make his own Fertilizer.
The subject was discussed at length, but
not exhausted. Would it not add to
the interest of our meetings, as well as to
the benefit derived therefrom; for some
competent person to be appointed to write
a short essay, or read to us a selection,
upon some such interesting topic as
the above, for instance it would
insure the bringing up of some
interesting subject, which subject
is sometimes wanting, at some of our
meetings, & it would give us mature
thought in the place of hastily conceived
ideas. If by this means we
did not get as much talking done,
we would perhaps hear more to remember.

Adjourned to meet at W S Brooke's
