Upon returning to the house, Fred
Stabler & E P Thomas, a committee appointed
to make inquiry with regard to the law
for weighing potatoes in Washington made a
report, which was discussed at length & the
committee finally instructed to enquire further
& report.

Questions
1. What is the best farm gate & how
should it be made
A. Advised to make of white oak & of various patterns
2. Would you plant potatoes in the same
ground 2 years in succession.
A Yes by nearly all
3 I will have to put new [f?]ellows & tin on
my wagon wheels, shall they be broad or
narrow
A 13 broad, 1 narrow
4 What is the best plan for stacking
fodder
A. Make a bed broade enough to take two
lengths of fodder so that the heads will
lap a little & then build up the middle
becoming fuller all the time & then top
off with bundles sitting nearly straight.
5 How is the corn crop
A Some say an average crop. 6 put it below
and 1 don't know
6. Shall I feed short corn whole to cattle
or shall I grind
A 12 would feed whole & 3 grind.
