Quite a full meeting, but four being absent
(amongst them the Hon Sec) assembled at Harewood
Our host was suffering from a billious attack
and was unable to conduct us over his farm,
which we found in very good order.
Haymaking was the programme. Our agent
exhibited a newly invented double harpoon hay
fork, which had some advantages over the older
kinds; the general opinion however seemed to
be in favor of the older one. Timothy fields
had beautiful crops on them. The wheat
was reported to be like all the rest this year,
poor in quality and quantity. The farm road
was in very bad order for hauling hay over
making the use of a [pole?] to hold it on
necessary. A little attention to it was recommended.
The new blacksmith shop was an
improvement. The colts seemed to be doing well.
The same cannot be said of the pigs they
need a change of pasture.

3 Must I raise very large or moderate sized hogs
A The moderate size are nicer for family use.
