In the pasture field, we passed by a Dorsey Reaper,
which we remembered to have seen under the same halter
at the time of our last visit. A very large, and very fat
cow, was admired as we passed by. We were shown another
experiment with lime, - which was to the same
effect as the others. The Texan beef-cattle, were in pretty
good condition.

The following questions were asked:

What is the least no. of fields into which we can divide our farms?

Ans. 5" 6"' 7"" 8"'

Your opinion of subsoiling low land?

Ans. 10 would try it, 3 not!

Would you follow corn with corn?

Ans. Some who had tried it, said that it cleared the land
of weeds, and the grass site well after it.

Which Shall I sell now, wheat or potatoes?

Ans. A great difference of opinion. It was suggested that the
safest way would be to try some of each

Do you know whether barley is a profitable crop?

Ans. The only member who had raised it, had not found it
profitable to him. Others thought it is a profitable crop.

Is it better to pature, or plow in clover?

Ans. Pature it.

What kind of stock cattle does it pay best to get?

Ans. The best.
