which as our minutes informed us at our
last visit were hedges of elders and briars.
The corn and potatoes which we passed by
were very promising. There was being ploughed
for wheat in adjoining fields oat stubble
and clover sod - a good chance for an observation
as to which yields better. The hogs were
called up to pass muster. They were critisized but
not to the usual extent - some members recognized
the faces of acquaintances at the last meeting
here. The calves were fine - the colts were very
fine We arrived at the house just in time to
escape a fearful hurricane - and the following
questions were asked.
Question 1st. Would it pay to cross plow clover fallow
for wheat? Ans. No.
2nd. Has anyone used Patapsco Guano?
Ans. Not much experience.
3rd. How move a frame house 16 x 18 feet?
Ans. Take it to pieces.
4th When sow wheat?
Ans. Most would sow about the last week in
the ninth month.
5th Would you work potatoes now? No.
6th Is it too late to sow clover in corn? No.
7th Is it best to wall up an ice house with
stone or line with boards?
Ans. Wall up with stone.
8th How destroy the volunteer oats on wheat
lands? [Shorce?] plow.
9th Does it pay to find milch cows? Yes.
