AUGUST, THURSDAY 11th 1887.

Rather warmer and the
country is beginning to suffer
from the drouth. I was sent
for at noon & went immediately
after dinner to Elijah Leizear's
to prescribe for & treat his
wife; got home just in time
to escape a thunder gust
which came up from the N. W.
it gave us a very heavy rain
and the lightning struck a
hickory tree close to the
public school house, within
less than a hundred yards
from our house an hour
later we had another heavy
rain & some thunder & lightning
but not so heavy. I walked up
to S. S. & got Quinine pills &
left them at "Fairall's" for
his daughter. After supper
Willie & Edwd went over to
the Lyceum to an "exhibition"
