It is much cooler during
the night and early in the
morning. I am feeling very
wretched
having taken
cold I have great soreness
of the abdomen & pains
in my head & neck. Charley
& Willie worked the garden
both sides of the hedge.

August, Friday 5th 1887

I feel rather better but
still quite miserable. Drove
to Ashton & back after
breakfast. Afternoon Charley & Willie
went to Rockville. Charley
took Dora over to Riverside
to call upon Harriet & Uriah
& Mr & Mrs Pancoast (soon
after breakfast). I was called
in next door to prescribe
for Miss Lizzie Fowler who
was threatened with "dysentry".
R Rowland Moore & wife brought
their infant for advice etc.
Philip T Stablers team brought
us a load of pine wood and
had considerable difficulty
in getting up into the yard
the team "baulking", but after
some time one of the horses
(the leader) pulled it up
the grade almost alone.
