Quite pleasant early
this morning but soon became
hot. Alice & Fanny Peirce
came about meeting time.
Alice remained to make
Dora a visit. Charley and
Willie reached home about
5.o'clock pm on their "bicycles"
from "Elton" having
come from Washington yesterday
afternoon to Gaithersburg on
the cars and rode from there
to Elton. they reached home
just in time to escape the
heaviest rain storm we have
had. About 1/2 past 8.o'clk we
had another & more severe thunder
gust lasting & continuing up
to late bed time whilst I am
writing this- Dora, Alice & I sitting
up hoping it would be over

We had four seperate thunder
storms from 5 pm yesterday
and this morning it is raining
hard and continued "showery"
all day. I walked over to
Mary Robert's afternoon.
After tea C Haslip came and
the"young folks" had a game
of whist. Charley being at
home. Edwd Chalfant,
left the country, last evening
for Georgia (Atlanta) or to
parts unknown without
much leave taking, and for
reasons best known to himself.
